Chuck Gray, Susan's husband, former choir member and active participant in United Methodist Men's activities, and 32nd degree Mason, passed on June 22.  Chuck's Life Celebration was at Money & King in Vienna on Friday evening (June 25th).  Chuck's funeral service was conducted at Chas. Wesley on Saturday morning with burial following at Chestnut Grove Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Charles Gray Memorial Fund at Dranesville UMC, 1089 Liberty Meeting Court, Herndon VA 20170.

Nancy Jeanne Tyahla, beloved daughter of Frances Tyahla and the late Stephen Tyhala passed on Thursday February 18th. A celebration of her life was held Sunday March 21st at Charles Wesley UMC  6817 Dean Drive McLean, VA 22101 703-356-6336.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Capital Hospice or Charles Wesley UMC.

The Charles Wesley congregation grieves along with the Shell and Roomian Families on the recent loss of Richard Roomian.  Rich died suddenly on February 27 at the age of 53.  He leaves behind his loving wife, Jackie, and two children, Samuel and Grace.  Rich was Hazel Shell's son-in-law.   Funeral service will be held at the Fort Myer Chapel, Arlington VA, on Tuesday, July 27th at 1pm.  Interment at Arlington National Cemetary with full military honors.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to College America, FBO (for the benefit of) the Roomian children, Navy Federal, 820 Folin Lane, Vienna VA  22180.

DON KENNETH KING, 61, of Little Rock, passed away June 20, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. He was born
 December 31, 1947 in Clarksville, Arkansas to the late Kenneth and Frances Thompson King. He was a member
of Trinity United Methodist Church in Little Rock and was especially active in the audio/visual aspect of worship.
Don was very active in Boy Scouts his whole life. He was an Eagle Scout, received the Silver Beaver award,
and had been an assistant scoutmaster of both Troop 336 at Trinity United Methodist Church and
Troop 335 at Highland Valley United Methodist Church. He was also actively involved in scouting at the district
and council levels, having coordinated camporees, leader training, junior leader training and youth leader
training events as well as numerous treks to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and the high adventure
base in the Rocky Mountain Council in Poncha Springs, Colorado.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Beth (Root) King of Little Rock; daughters, Rebecca Lynn King
of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Kathryn Elizabeth Barlow and her husband, Matthew of Fayetteville,
Arkansas; son, Matthew Allen King and his wife, Christy of Springdale, Arkansas; one precious grandson,
Caleb Kenneth King of Springdale; sisters, Carol Stiffler and her husband, Fred of Little Rock and Adele
Jacobs and her husband, Mike of Clarksville; brother, Pat King of Clarksville; aunt, Dotty Dunlap of
Muskogee, Oklahoma; six nephews, seven nieces and 12 cousins.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Don’s life was held at 2 p.m. on August 29th at Trinity United
Methodist Church in Little Rock.
 In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Trinity United Methodist Church
or to The Don and Beth King Family Endowed Scholarship at the University of Arkansas. This scholarship
was established to support engineering students participating in the University of Arkansas Bands
and Razorback Marching Band programs. Gifts may be sent to the Don and Beth King Scholarship,

Bill McGuinn passed Sunday the 18th. Arrangements were a viewing at Murphy Funeral Home,
 Visitation hours on Thursday were held from 2-4 and 7-8 pm. After a extended stay in the hospital, Eleanor York chose not to be prolonged on dialysis as her sole kidney was unable to function on its' own after her successful hip surgery.  She expired Sunday morning, October 26th.  Interment was Thursday, October 30th, in West Hartford, CT., where her husband Tom is buried.
A memorial service was held on Saturday November 1st at Charles Wesley church - a reception followed.  Daughter Karen Blue requested donations to the church in lieu of flowers.  A bundle of prayers, possibly followed up with a card to Karen's family, at 6924 Southridge Drive, McLean VA 22101-5467, would be appreciated.

    One of our most faithful choir members, Dick Spann, lost his wife Mary Grace on Tuesday, August the 29th.  Mary is survived by sisters Gwendolyn and Virginia; children Joseph Donald, Louise Marie, and devoted grandchildren Jeff, Will, Kristen, and Kate.  Visitation is scheduled 6 to 8 pm at Murphy Funeral home, 1102 W Broad Street in Falls Church on Friday, August 1st.  A Mass will be held at Arleigh Burke pavilion 10:30 am Saturday.  Inurnment in the Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium is planned for the 21st of August.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, or similar charity of choice.

   We lost one of a kind, when Jim Hope passed Monday February 25th at the age of 86.  Flu-triggered pneumonia deteriorated into a cardiac arrest, from which he was unable to survive, and he passed Monday morning.  A grave-side service and interment was held in Portsmouth, VA. A memorial service was held Saturday March 8th at Charles Wesley church, with a reception that followed, in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Charles Wesley UMC, or a charity of the givers' choice.

  With a heavy heart the church webmaster shared the loss of his life-long partner.  Muriel Lowry passed Monday morning September 24th, at the age of 80.  Visitation and viewing was held Friday the 28th, and a memorial service celebrating Riel's life on Saturday the 29th at Charles Wesley UMC.  The family has expressed any donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.

 Our Deepest Sympathies were extended to Connie Randolph and her children, Will and Mary, on the sudden loss of her husband and their father, Bill Randolph who died suddenly Monday, April 23, 2007 at age 59.  A memorial service was held at Charles Wesley Friday the 27th.  Private interment held on Saturday.

With great sorrow we note that Ben Blue died at age 66, after a loosing battle against pulmonary fibrosis and subsequent complications stemming from his military service exposure to Agent Orange.  His entire family was at his bedside in December, as he went to join his maker.  He is survived by wife Karen; children Brantley, Christopher, Kimberly and their families; grand children Erica, Myles, Leilah and Kaleb.  A memorial service was held at Charles Wesley Church, Saturday the 16th, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.  Afternoon interment was held in the Union Cemetery 323 N. Kings Street (Rte 15), Leesburg, VA 20176.
Donations to Charles Wesley UMC in lieu of flowers has been requested.

Our Deepest Sympathies
to the Fridley family on the loss of their father, Ray who passed away on Monday, November 20.  Ray and his wife Helen (Helen died in April) were active members of Charles Wesley church and will be warmly remembered and sincerely missed.  Ray and Helen are survived by their three children: Raymond G. Fridley, Jr., Tina Helen Ours, and Janet F. Ringley, and their three grandchildren. The family is appreciative of the prayers of Ray's brothers and sisters in Christ at Charles Wesley UMC, where he and Helen served faithfully for many years.  Interment was Friday, November 24th in Columbia Gardens Cemetery. 
Long time member Helen Fridley, Past President of the IOOF Rebekah Assembly; beloved wife of Ray, mother of Raymond Jr., Tina Ours, and Janet Ringley, died peaceably Friday April 14th while asleep at home.  Interment was Friday, April 21st in Columbia Gardens Cemetery.

Roger Gray passed July 1st in the afternoon.  Roger served in the US Air Force for 23 years and achieved the rank of Colonel.  When he retired from the Air Force, he went on to work for the Virginia Employment Commission for another 23 years.  He was a member of Charles Wesley United Methodist Church since 1969 and served as the Superintendent of Sunday School and Lead Usher.  He is survived by his wife, Joanne C. Gray; his children, Roger Clarke Gray, Jr., Diane Patricia Gray, and Mary Webb Gray; his grandchildren, Melissa Joanne Ni, Jamie Dyan Paulk, Micah Lee Paulk, Ryan Dodd, Thomas Clarke Gray, and Sarita Joanne Gray; and his great grandchild, Emilie Charlotte Paulk.  Interment was at Arlington National Cemetery Friday, August 11th. If desired, donations may be made to the Charles Wesley United Methodist Church.

 Member Roy Highberg. 
Cdr. Roy Warren Highberg, USN (Ret.), age 78, of Browntown Virginia passed away on Friday, April 14, 2006. He died peacefully in his home of 23 years with his wife, Velura, and children at his side, after battling cancer during the past year.  A memorial service was held at the Izaak Walton Park in Browntown, Virginia, on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 3:00 PM. Interment was on Friday, May 26, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Arlington National Cemetery, with military honors.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, P.O. Box 556, Front Royal, VA 22630.
